Recently Higgins Palmerston North won the Supreme Award for Construction Projects at the Central Districts CCNZ regional awards. The team won the award for a resurfacing project at Palmerston North Airport. The contract involved the removal of a 34 year old 30mm surface layer of asphalt by cold milling, applying a polymer modified emulsion waterproofing membrane seal and laying a new, more durable surfacing asphalt over an area of 68,000m². The work was carried out over 13 nights (Saturday and Sunday nights only) to ensure there was no disruption to passenger and freight services.
Construction Supervisor Bruce Walker says “The Award was an excellent achievement for the project team and recognition of a well delivered project that exceeded quality requirements and resulted in a very happy client. In fact the airport showed their appreciation by holding a BBQ for the team.
